INFECTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL

Standard Precautions are designed to reduce the risk of cross infection amongst residents and staff in the residential aged care environment.
Additional Precautions are always In Addition to Standard Precautions. They are used for residents known to be or suspected of being infected or colonized with microorganisms which are of epidemiological importance or are highly communicable. We receive instruction and guidance from the RACS for this.
Gastroenteritis Outbreak

Viral Gastroenteritis causes acute diarrhoea and/or vomiting.
Should an outbreak occur, MidEX designates support staff to clean and sanitise the affected areas. During the outbreak, the regular cleaners are separated from this work and affected areas.
MidEX complies with the 2 step clean – Physical Cleaning, followed by Sanitisation.
